Relaunching Fine Dining Menu of all time favorite Coquille Seafood Bistro

"La Crème de la Crème, s'il vous plaît!"

As Coquille Seafood Bistro takes on the challenge of culinary reinvention, our design team was dared to craft a menu that not only reflects the restaurant’s playful sophistication but also enhances the overall dining experience. This menu is more than just a guide to ordering—it shall be a visual and tactile journey that complements the indulgent spirit of Coquille’s modern French supper club (understand: makes you hungry to try EVERYTHINTG!).

Bringing “Fun Dining” to Life Through Design

Coquille’s philosophy of blending fine dining with a sense of playfulness inspired our approach to the menu’s design. Instead of the traditional, formal French menu aesthetic (aka: white page, clean fonts), we opted for a refined yet more opulent approach that would go well with the restaurant’s refreshed interiors. The menu shall be presented an invitation… to indulge!

Besides the outer envelop made more memorable with an Coquille shaped edge, every choice has been considered with the upmost care.  

The color palette has been set to complement Coquille’s newly updated space—soft nude tones, vintage brass details, and the signature diamond-patterned glass accents – but also inspired to try some of the key dishes: live-pressed scampi with grilled lobster tail, anyone?

The carefully selected paper stock, combined with delicate gold foil elements, gives the menu a tactile richness, making it feel less like a menu and more like an invitation to an unforgettable dining experience.

A Storytelling Approach: Every Dish as an Adventure

Beyond being a functional piece, this menu serves as an immersive storytelling tool, guiding guests through Coquille’s culinary landscape. The layout is designed to encourage exploration, through a crescendo of theatrical acts, each offering a unique sensory experience. Playful typography and subtle graphic elements bring dishes to life—whether it’s the French Onion Soup Ice Cream, the Foie Gras Chocolate Bar, or the Lemongrass Shrimp Toast. Each dish is introduced in a way that sparks curiosity, setting the stage for a dining experience that is as visually delightful as it is delicious.

A Modern Interpretation of French Elegance

In today’s world, where dining is as much about the experience as it is about the food, a menu is more than just a list of dishes—it’s an extension of a restaurant’s identity. The Coquille menu seamlessly integrates aesthetics with functionality, reinforcing the restaurant’s refined yet playful personality.

We believe that great design should enhance storytelling and deepen a brand’s connection with its guests. Through our collaboration with Coquille, we aimed to redefine the perception of fine dining—where elegance meets spontaneity, and where every flip of the menu becomes a moment of discovery.
